[ Well, picking apples is a little boring, honestly...and not very efficient sometimes, but it can go faster in pairs. ]II. ENTERTAINING
Hey. If I climb up and toss the apples down, you wanna catch 'em?
[ Or the other way around. Whatever. ]
A. SPARKSIII. SWORD (LEARNING)
[ The small children underfoot who can't do much more than an armful or so are sort of in the way...Katsuki's not nice to them, exactly (he doesn't censor his swearing or rough tone at all) but he's also not really being mean. He's had to deal with entertaining kids before, unfortunately...so he doesn't think anything of it when he's asked by a few women to watch their kids, beyond thinking they chose possibly the worst possible person.
Still, he's sitting with some excitable brats, setting up a shower of harmless sparks from his palms like he hasn't done since he was a brat. It's been years since he bothered to do something that was just "pretty" and not effective. ]
It's fine to touch 'em like this, they're just warm.
B. RABBITS
[ Or maybe you find him doing distracting-kids-option-two: carving quick bunny apples with a knife, as efficient as he ever is with a kitchen blade, and then handing them off to fascinated children. If you ask nicely and don't mock, maybe you can get one, too. ]
[ There are training sessions on how to use actual weapons, so he's like...attending those. Katsuki's not really familiar with how to use any, relying almost entirely on his explosions and unarmed combat/acrobatics.IV. SPARRING
But swords are cool, and also his explosions might go out again, so.
That's his entire reasoning for picking swords to learn, yes. What of it? He's sixteen, rule of cool is a legitimate reason to make choices. He's sort of swinging a practice sword wildly, and without much finesse, just to see how it feels...
Help him out? ]
[ Or if you're feeling more like getting toasted a little bit my some nitroglycerin-fueled explosions - maybe you're paired up with Katsuki for sparring, or see him training and go over to see if he wants some? He'll smile his particularly slasher-styled grin that he gets whenever he's allowed to fight... ]V. BAKING
You wanna go?
[ Surprisingly to anyone who hasn't caught him cooking before, Katsuki actually doesn't need to learn how to be much of a baker. He's able to work on his own without much oversight, and as soon as the actual chefs prepping for the feast see what he's able to do they leave him mostly to his own devices. You might be able to find him if you wander into the flurry of activity, and if you're looking particularly useless and not busy, he might thrust something at you with a growled: ]NOTES
Here, stop being fucking useless and taste this.
[ Or maybe you're here to learn, and the busy professionals shoo you off to the supposed amateur who seems to know what he's doing...although Katsuki looks Incensed that he's been relegated to training duties. ]
Haaaaah?! Like I'm not already busy enough - [ Oh, the chef left. He glares at you instead. ] You better be able to keep up.
[ It's baking, right? Not battle. Please calm down, Katsuki. ]
[ If you want a special starter, please feel free to contact me via PM or atroseburst or Maggie#0451. ]

iii
The armsmaster has noticed other trainees around him giving Katsuki a wide berth: who wouldn't, unless they are looking to receive some nasty bruises? So. Here she is, to preempt that tragedy.
Her own practice sword (nothing like her precious Étincelle de Fierté, but it is what little she has to work with, on explicit instructions not to break it because "practice weapons cost money!") catches his on the downswing, clanging loudly. He's got good strength, she'll give him that; she just has enough experience to spot which point can create a big enough impact when struck and hopefully catch his attention.]
Hey. You're scaring the rest. Is today your first time at this?
no subject
[ Rude, Katsuki. But he lowers the sword after it clangs together with her own, though, apparently not intending to just keep swinging wildly. ]
We don't use swords back home.
[ Or...most weapons, since quirks exist. ]
no subject
[She brings her sword to her side as well, settling into an idle position.] Before you can hurt your enemies, shouldn't you make sure not to harm the people around you first?
[It's not a
giraffe bullshitcryptic zen thing. Just stating facts.]no subject
[ He's not the most patient guy, so he'd rather have lessons to a lecture. ]
no subject
When you're aware of what is within your reach, then you'll notice if the enemy is too far away, and also if you might hit someone on the same side coming too close.
no subject
Well, because he's had enough fucking character development to admit when he doesn't know something, as long as someone doesn't approach it in the wrong way. The only way to get better is to cop to his weaknesses and learn. And he's never had problems giving other people due respect for abilities regardless of age or sex.
He does have issues being polite to people he deems as having no abilities but hey... ]
You come from a place this is normal?
no subject
No. People haven't used weapons like these in wars for hundreds of years. They're usually used for sports and entertainment. [Which, she's aware, hardly inspires confidence, so.] I've just had some more experience than most.
[And with the level the trainees are at, she considers herself plenty equipped to teach at least the fundamentals.]
no subject
His school principal is a mouse she'd totally be able to pass it off... ]
Huh. Well, okay then. I know fuck all, so.
no subject
'Course, an opponent who knows the right technique can overcome that physical disadvantage. [Reaching out with her sword, she taps gently on his wrist with the flat of the blade -- a heavier blow might disarm.] When you've got a weapon and they don't, either they take yours, or they keep you from using it.
no subject
[ Hand-to-hand is all well and good, but without explosions it puts him at a severe disadvantage against armed opponents. Because he rather enjoys his limbs remaining attached. ]
no subject
[She's so used to the perspective of "better figure out how to deal when you lose your weapon" that she hadn't considered the opposite quite as much.]
no subject
Super power, I guess?
no subject
Ah. Yeah, most people can't do that, where I come from. [ANGLERFISH...] I see your point. Having more options is always good.
no subject
[ He's a good student.............shockingly.......... ]
no subject
[She gestures at his hand which was sparking.] The way you described it, I suppose somebody taught you how to use that in a fight. How about we spar and you show me what I'm working with? You can put the sword down, if you prefer.
no subject
[ He can show off with his quirk any time, but he'd prefer to get pointers on that. ]
no subject
Remember how I parried just now? Your movements can be smaller for better control. Come, [lowering her centre of gravity...] give me an overhead strike and I'll demonstrate.
