"Less 'lose your soul' and more, hm." He ponders how best to put what it does. "A direct line to the afterlife." It will kill whoever stands in it and it will hurt. Mortals, at least, he's not sure how it will respond to plant life that's also alive.

At the question, however, Aziraphale's face falls. "I... hadn't actually thought about that."

[chronosynthesis]

"... Oh." Syrlya looks between the portal and the spirit. Well, he can't exactly physically drag them over... or can he?

He carefully sidesteps the portal to start approaching the ghost. "Excuse me--can you hear me?"

The spirit wavers, and then flickers in a way that indicates yes. Aziraphale, for the most part, stays simply over by the portal, attempting to make sure that no one wanders into it by accident.

[chronosynthesis]

"I'm... going to take that as agreement." Sure. He makes a beckoning gesture to the spirit. "Come this way, we want to help you."

[atreefull]

The spirit flickers forwards, and then halts again. Aziraphale looks up, and frowns.

"Normally they don't put up as much resistance. The ones back home have quite a lot to say, as well."

[chronosynthesis]

"Must be whatever has all of them agitated to begin with..."

Syrlya just... keeps gesturing for the spirit to come forward. "That's it, come this way. It's all right."

He could try and use magic to drag them over, but they probably won't appreciate that? How tangible are these spirits.
