[It's an honest answer if a disappointing one. She casts her glance to the stacked bookshelves now, pausing in her writing to do so.]
The basic magic tomes are nice, even if it's all a little difficult to practice on your own. Otherwise though it's a lot of fairy tales and fables and books in languages I can't even begin to comprehend.
[She pauses a moment, purses her lips and gives a tiny shrug before she smiles in faint sardonic amusement.]
It's really been scrubbed clean of almost anything historical. Even the fairy tales.

[For all that Aqua is a Keybearer first, she is a mage too. The weakening of her magic is just as much discomfort as the temporary loss of her weapon.
Though to hear that…]
Even the fairy tales… they really don't want us to find anything, do they?
no subject
Oh? You already know magic then, I take it?
[Figures. She had gotten the idea that Lightning knew a little bit too at least. She huffs out a softly amused breath and quirks a little bit of a sheepish smile in Aqua's direction.]
I'm a thorough beginner so it's all practice for me.
[Now though she nods a little, almost morosely in a way. She turns her glance back to the bookshelves and takes a moment to cease her writing and settle an elbow against the table before her. Her chin is soon propped up in her hand.]
Definitely not. Not that it's much of a surprise; the Emperor was pretty adamant about dancing around getting too in-depth with their answers as well.
[She knew she wasn't being told everything. The answers were just enough to inform but be evasive too.]

Yes… I've been studying magic for a long time already. I suppose, you could even call me a mage.
[It's not all she is… but it's certainly part of her. But anyway…]
If you wish to learn and need some pointers… I'd be happy to help you out.
[At the mention of the Emperor, her smile falls into a frown, and her eyes close for a moment. Under the seam of her glove, she can still feel the tingling sensation of the binding.]
They were… though they were specific about some things too.

[And Sarah doesn't sound particularly angry over that. Sure, she doesn't exactly like it. She'd rather the Emperor -- and the Priestess too -- both be completely honest. But honesty doesn't exactly win fights sometimes or gain people to your side either.
That said though her smile grows some.]
That's nice of you. I'm definitely not going to say no to any pointers. I'm going to be learning under the Court Mage for a while I think but hopefully I can get past the basics and up to training more with others too shortly.
[She thinks a moment, glancing back down to her paper. Ah, that's where she recognized this woman from. With perked brows she glances back up to Aqua.]
You're Aqua, yes? Sorry, I've been writing down what I can recall from the audience. The name parts are a little scattershot.
[She's not too shabby with that though since she already spends time memorizing student's names and whatnot.]
no subject
Then I'll be glad to give them whenever you have the need.
[She blinks when the woman before her identifies her… she had said her name then, but well…]
Yes, that's correct. I'm afraid you have me at a loss, though… I don't think I had a chance to catch your name.
no subject
Don't worry, there's a lot of names around here after all.
[How many had asked questions exactly? It was easy to recall one person from another honesty when one was focusing on answers. Or their own business either.]
I'm Sarah Williams. Just Sarah is fine.
no subject
Sarah, then.
[Aqua sighs and pulls out the chair across from Sarah, waiting a moment for a sign of her until she sits down, then sets down her tome… her Fire magic won't restore by itself after all.]
no subject
Though... she's curious now.]
Are there many magic books here? That you've found, I mean.
no subject
There is a fair amount, from what I've seen… though, I suspect there are many more to be found at the University.
[There are many more in the Castle of Departure, after all.]
I've only looked into the novice tomes for Conjuration, Destruction and Restoration – that are the schools of magic that come closest to my skill set.
no subject
At the mention of restoration Sarah looks intrigued.]
Restoration is something like healing, right?
[That's probably a little simplistic of a way of putting it but she thinks it suffices as a start?]
no subject
Yes… that's exactly what it is. Though it seems that Restoration magic is far more complex than the Cure magic that I was taught.
[If only she had the time, if there wasn't so much to do… maybe then Aqua would focus on learning beyond the skill level she had held before coming here.]
no subject
[Which is all from a fae bastard so your mileage may vary on just how good of a demonstration of magic she really has had.]
But it's like a lot of things - the more you practice, the better you get. Complicated just means there's more practice needed.
