He's a right ruddy bastard, that's who he is.

[They...probably shouldn't be talking about their mutual patron like this, but that's the last thing that Crowley really cares about. He has to call it like it is, after all, and it's good that someone agrees!]

If that was supposed to give us some answers or faith in this whole stupid war thing, I think it's done the exact opposite for most people there. Not really a great way to rally your supposed troops, I mean.

Was there much to rally for? All the doom and gloom about how our home worlds are next after this one is done with… it just gave us a personal stake in business which was theirs from the start. [And is more than a tad reminiscent of what she'd gotten caught up in before she was brought here. She doesn't have to like or enjoy the situation to hazard an educated guess at why the Emperor chose her.]

Say I took everything we heard at face value. Helping our worlds remain safe sounds like a grander cause than if I'd found myself on the other end and was told, "hey, we're going to conquer the world and go invade others after." [Colonialism to go with the fantasy-esque setting???] Maybe the Priestess is even saying the same thing about us.

Rallying doesn’t always have to be for the positive; you want to inspire a bunch of angry people? Tell them that they’ve got that personal stake in things. It’s underhanded. [And not in an admirable way. The Emperor could use some work on their people skills, he’s certain of that.]

I wouldn’t doubt that the Priestess is saying exactly the same thing about us right now. That’s how you wrangle support, villainize the other guys. I’m sure right about now she’s telling everyone that the Emperor and all of us are here to conquer or let the world die, or something else that’s supposed to get people riled up. We’re not getting the full picture here, and I doubt we’ll ever get it.

Ensuring our dedication is the goal, huh? ["Everyone thinks they're right in a war," or something — there was a campfire, perhaps, she doesn't fully remember the circumstances leading up to that conversation —

Anyway.]

It worked, didn't it? At least one of these guys was raring to go. [Aragorn, she means, and she would gesture at him if she could spot him after the audience had wound down, though for such a towering figure, he's disappeared quickly.]

Seems like it’d be. Be stupid to rile everyone up otherwise.

[Unless the whole point was to have a bunch of angry dissenters on-hand, but that seems terribly unlikely.

But she’s right, there’s at least one person who seems to be entirely on-board with all of the madness. Crowley isn’t a fan, he’s entirely convinced that such blind faith is misplaced and foolish. Dangerous, even.]

I can’t answer for anyone else, I really don’t want to anyways, but apparently some people are more willing to believe half-truths than the rest of us.
